i can't talk openly about my love for charity/giving back with my family

they think it's unrealistic and make fun of me, calling me a tree hugger or something of that sort. they think that my time would be better spent in a job paying minimum wage than helping out others in the community, even if its just for a couple hours. i believe in Darwinism, survival of the fittest, as much as they do...but their perspective on that isn't the same as mine. just because i believe that it's the mentally stronger people in our society that will go farther in life, doesn't mean i don't believe in lending a helping hand to help others get on their feet as well.

it's frustrating out different we are.
